Our Purpose:
- To encourage the organization of professional addictions counselors;
- To encourage competent and comprehensive alcoholism and drug abuse education programs;
- To conduct training programs that will increase competence and knowledge of these diseases;
- To promote a response by the general public and state leaders to the issues of alcoholism and drug abuse;
- To cooperate with other individuals and agencies concerned with the problems of alcoholism and drug abuse, and primarily;
- To better serve those afflicted and their families.
Our History:
- The State Association was incorporated in 1992 when two established chapters, Southern and Central, joined the newly-formed Northern Chapter to form a statewide organization. AzAADAC is the state affiliate of NAADAC: The Association for Addiction Professionals.
- Don Nichols, M.S., NCAC II, was the first president of AzAADAC. Past Presidents include Del Boyd, Ph.D., ACSW, CSAC and Del Worley, M.C.,CSAC, and Tom Hutchinson, B.A., CSAC.
- 2001 In January the state board of directors realized the need to enter into the internet age and publish this website: http://www.azaadac.org. It also sees a need to improve communications with the membership and launches a state-wide discussion list.
